Sedona
bicycle advocacy...
The
Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition was founded in the Spring
of 2003 by a couple of riders who wanted to give the cyclists
of Sedona, Cottonwood, Clarkdale, Cornville, Camp Verde,
Rimrock, Jerome, the Village of Oak Creek... okay, the whole Verde
Valley, a voice. We wanted to improve the infrastructure
for bicyclists, to educate cyclists and motorists,
to start fun rides, have good times, in short, to do all
of the things that great bike clubs do!
Our members include roadies and mountain bikers, BMXers, singlespeeders, and
even a few motorists! We encourage you to check out our site: www.vvcc.us, and
if the answers aren't there, give us a call at 928-301-1190.

Believing
in the goodness of the bike is simple for us at Absolute Bikes,
we find ourselves surrounded by them daily. We ride our bikes to
work, we ride our bikes for fun, we work on bikes so that you will
love your bike once again, and, of course, we sell bikes to put
food on the table. We, like you perhaps, are true believers in
the nobility of the bike. But a wise person once advised true believers
everywhere, regardless of their creed, to "put your money
where your mouth is," a statement that gets to the heart
of advocacy. To advocate means to stand up and speak out about
an issue you believe in and, as we have noted above, we believe
in the inherent goodness and practicality of bikes. Therefore,
many of us at Absolute Bikes advocate for bikes on a regular basis
as members of the Flagstaff Bicycle Advisory Committee, as volunteers
on USFS-sponsored trail workdays, and by promoting youth bicycle
safety programs such as SAFE KIDS, as well as a host of other bike-consciousness-raising
events throughout the year.
