Although I rode bikes as a kid, I rediscovered bikes in 1980, at age 20. By ’82 I discovered the budding sport of mountain biking, and never looked back. After working at other bike and ski shops for 8 years, and building a few steel bike frames, I opened Absolute Bikes in 1989 with 2 partners, who have since moved on (Shawn Gillis to Absolute Bikes in Salida CO). Since those early days of 100 hour work weeks of doing everything for Absolute Bikes, life has evolved to letting my very competent staff do most all except paying bills and some bookkeeping. Although I still work on my own bikes, you’ll want the real Absolute mechanics to work on yours. Now I still ride to work each day, get out for a few hour ride on the fabulous trails of Flagstaff and Sedona several times per week (except during ski season), race once in while, and take occasional bike trips to cool places like Moab or Italy. I do not plan to ever stop riding bikes.
